Svyaznoy says starts making face masks, to produce 1.5 mln/mth

MOSCOW, Jun 16 (PRIME) -- Large Russian mobile electronics retailer Svyaznoy has started producing disposable face masks and intends to make more than 1.5 million per month, the company said on Tuesday in a statement.

“We see that the restrictive measures are easing in all regions, but despite this fact we should continue to provide our employees with protective means,” President Yevgeny Davydovich said.

“In the last few months, like many other firms, we purchased protective equipment from third parties and naturally saw their deficit and excessive prices in some cases. Our own manufacturing will cover our own demand seamlessly, regardless of the market situation, and cut our costs on the purchase of protective means.”

Svyaznoy’ s own need in masks amounts to 1.4 million per month. The company said it does not rule out wholesale and retail sales of masks in the future.
